Specialist Tuition: Terms & Conditions

Our Approach

Bourne Dyslexia provides structured, multisensory tuition grounded in specialist dyslexia teaching principles. Sessions are tailored to each child’s individual learning profile and delivered in a calm, supportive way.

Our focus is not only on literacy development, but also on building confidence and a more positive experience of learning.

Trial Session

  • All students begin with a complimentary trial session.
    This allows your child to meet their tutor, feel comfortable, and for us to gain an initial understanding of their needs.

  • There is no obligation to continue following this session.

Ongoing Tuition

  • Sessions are typically delivered weekly during term time and are designed to provide consistency and structure, which are essential for progress.

  • Teaching follows a structured, cumulative, and personalised approach, grounded in specialist dyslexia practice and tailored to each child’s individual learning profile.

  • Sessions take place online, which many neurodivergent learners find both comfortable and effective.

  • Where appropriate, sessions can continue during school holidays. This can be arranged directly with your tutor, subject to availability.

  • Tutors will communicate in advance regarding any planned breaks and will provide a minimum of one month’s notice where sessions may be affected.

Fees, Booking & Payment

  • Tuition is charged at £60 per hour.

  • Sessions are booked and paid for in 4-week blocks in advance, securing your child’s dedicated weekly time slot.

  • Payment details will be provided upon confirmation of your place.

  • To ensure consistency for all families, unpaid sessions or late payment may result in the release of your allocated slot.

Cancellations, Holidays & Notice

Cancelling a Session

  • A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or rearrange a session.

  • Sessions cancelled within this period will be charged in full, as the time has been reserved exclusively for your child.

  • Where possible, an alternative session may be offered, although this cannot be guaranteed.

If Your Child Is Unwell

  • If your child is unwell, please inform your tutor as soon as possible.

  • Depending on how your child is feeling, sessions may:Continue online if appropriate.

  • Be rearranged where availability allowsPlease note that sessions cancelled within the 24-hour notice period remain chargeable.

Family Holidays

  • If you are planning a holiday, sessions can often continue provided your child has access to a suitable device and internet connection.

  • If you would prefer to pause sessions, we kindly ask for a minimum of one month’s notice, as your child’s time slot is reserved in advance.

Stopping Tuition

You may stop tuition at any time. We kindly request 7 days’ notice, which is chargeable. To confirm, please email your tutor and copy: hello@bournedyslexia.co.uk

During Sessions (Safeguarding & Environment)

  • To maintain a safe and supportive learning environment:

  • A parent or legal guardian (18+) must be present in the home during sessions. Sessions should take place in a quiet, shared space (e.g. dining table or study area)Sessions should not take place in bedrooms.

  • For online sessions, please ensure:

  • A device with working camera and audioA stable internet connection.

  • Basic materials (e.g. pen and paper) are available

Progress & Outcomes

Every child learns differently and progresses at their own pace. While specialist tuition can lead to significant and meaningful progress, we do not guarantee specific outcomes such as attainment levels, exam results, or school placements. Our aim is to support each child in developing both their skills and their confidence, creating a more positive and sustainable approach to learning.

Professional Standards

  • All tuition is delivered in line with professional and safeguarding standards.

  • All tutors at Bourne Dyslexia are specialist dyslexia practitioners, trained in evidence-based approaches to teaching literacy.

  • Each tutor holds the relevant qualifications and experience required to support learners with dyslexia and associated needs, and all tutors have an enhanced DBS check in place.

  • Bourne Dyslexia is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for every child.

By booking and continuing with tuition, you agree to the above Terms & Conditions.
