Educational Assessment: Terms & Conditions

Please note, this is not a formal diagnostic assessment. The purpose of the pre-assessment is to explore areas within a person’s cognitive profile that are commonly associated with dyslexia and to provide recommendations for support based on the findings.

Booking a Pre-Diagnostic Assessment

  • Pre-diagnostic assessments are booked directly via email.

  • Once booked, the assessor will confirm the appointment details and location. This is usually at the assessor home address by King’s Park, Bournemouth or the South West Regional Assessment Centre (SWRAC) in Boscombe.

  • A questionnaire will be provided in advance to support the session.

  • The session is informal and designed to explore strengths and possible areas of concern.

  • Following confirmation, an invoice will be issued. The session is not secured until payment is made in full.

  • If your circumstances change, please get in touch as soon as possible.

Cancellations

  • A pre-diagnostic assessment may be cancelled at no charge, but we kindly ask for at least 48 hours' notice.

  • If the learner is unwell or unforeseen circumstances arise on the day of the appointment, it can be rescheduled at the earliest mutually convenient time.

  • The assessor also reserves the right to cancel due to ill health or other unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, we will rearrange the appointment as soon as possible.

During the Assessment

  • The assessor will act professionally and with sensitivity to the learner’s needs and comfort.

  • The session will take place in a quiet setting conducive to accurate observation.

  • The learner is expected to engage cooperatively with the informal tasks. Please inform the assessor beforehand if additional accommodations may be helpful.

  • Parents/carers may remain within hearing distance, but not in the same room unless otherwise agreed.

  • For children under the age of 16, a parent/carer must provide a contact number and be readily available throughout the session.

  • The assessor reserves the right to pause or end the session if the learner becomes distressed or if the environment is no longer appropriate.

  • Video or audio recordings may be used to support qualitative observation. These will be deleted once the assessment summary is complete. Please raise any concerns with the assessor in advance.

Payment Terms

  • No deposit is required at the time of booking.

  • Once a date is confirmed, an invoice will be sent via e-mail.

  • Full payment of £300 is required prior to the assessment. If payment is not received within two weeks of the invoice date, the booking will be cancelled.
If the assessment is due within two weeks, payment must be received at least 48 hours before the scheduled appointment.

  • Assessments will not be carried out unless payment has been received in full.

After the Assessment

  • A summary report will be emailed to the parent/carer within two weeks of the assessment.

  • This summary will highlight areas of strength and concern and suggest appropriate next steps.

  • As this is not a full diagnostic assessment, it cannot be used for official exam access arrangements or DSA applications.

  • If a full diagnostic assessment is desired, an additional £250 is required. The diagnostic assessment must be carrier out within four weeks of the pre-diagnostic.
